HELENA SIMÕES
“Origem” 2023
White marble sculpture on a concrete base.
1.5 m tall.
Conceived by Helena Simões Pessôa de Queiroz at the age of 9, the sculpture "Origem" evokes the essential form of the egg – a universal symbol of birth, creation, and the mystery of life. Carved from white marble, 1.5 meters tall, and set on a square concrete base, the work is installed in the heart of the botanical garden, inviting visitors to reflect on the silent and powerful beginnings that nature holds within itself.
With simplicity and strength, Helena proposes an archetypal image of the seed of the world, celebrating childhood as a fertile territory for imagination and artistic sensitivity. "Origem" is also an inaugural gesture of a new generation in the Usina de Arte collection – a testament to the creative continuity that unites past, present, and future in this territory of transformation.
