MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ
"Generator," 2024
Wall measuring 25 meters long, 3 meters high, and 2.5 meters wide, with 15 sets of three rose quartz cushions (sourced from Minas Gerais) placed on it.
"Generator" gives new strength to the artist's ongoing reflections on how material expressions of nature can be instruments of human healing, especially based on her research with Brazilian stones and crystals, which she has been conducting since the 1980’s.
Fifteen clusters of quartz along the wall allow visitors of varying heights to interact with the work, exploring how these materials connect with the human body and the planet. Abramović proposes an exchange: "I give you the work, you give me your time," leading people to a profound connection.

She began her career in the early 1970’s and has remained active ever since. Her work explores the limits of the body (body art), resistance art, the relationships between artist and audience, and the possibilities of the mind. Active for over four decades, Abramović considers herself the "grandmother of performance art." She pioneered a new notion of artistic identity by involving viewers, focusing on "confronting pain, blood, and the physical limits of the body." In 2007, she founded the Marina Abramović Institute (MAI), a foundation for performance art.
Abramović works with the concept she calls "transitory objects." Through them, she encourages the audience to go one step further and become an active part of the work, transforming themselves into "experiencers" of the objects and co-creating the artistic creation.
