COURSES AND EVENTS

We can all be our own Usina.

This is the common thread of the training programs in art and entrepreneurship developed by the Usina de Arte.

Through a regular schedule of courses and events, offered throughout the year, the Usina de Arte seeks to strengthen the relationship between the local community and the universe of arts, both in the field of experience and training.

These are short and long term programs that encourage the discovery and development of artistic vocation, strengthening self-esteem and opening new possibilities for work and income.

Training in entrepreneurship is also offered, motivating, and preparing the population to explore sectors such as food and lodging - boosted after the implementation of the Usina de Arte in the region.

Concurrently, there is a diversified cultural calendar, including concerts, shows, and exhibitions, both by local artists and those from other states and countries. The artistic repertoire expands and incorporates an unprecedented cultural and linguistic overlap, fluidifying the boundaries between local and global, erudite, and popular, artist and audience.

Library The public Library and Knowledge Center has more than 5 thousand titles as well as computer terminals connected to the internet, 3D printers, and laser cutters for community projects. Music School Built in the former residence of the chemist of Usina Santa Terezinha, the Music School offers theoretical and practical classes for 67 students. The first class was formed in 2016 and is dedicated to classical viola, guitar, violin, cello and transverse flute. Following a partnership with the Pernambuco Conservatory of Music, it was possible to include new instruments in the program and create a second class, with training in saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trombone, clarinet, and tuba. The students are aged between 9 and 16, an age group with high social vulnerability. The idea is to offer these young people an opportunity to build a professional career in music and, in the near future, to form the Usina de Arte Symphony Orchestra. Workshops Intensive and practical training awakens the population to unexplored talents and new job perspectives, both in the artistic universe and in other segments. Among the professionals who have already participated in the program are filmmaker Torquato Joel (with a mini course on Cinema Language Notions), the musicians from the Banda de Pífanos Zé do Estado and the band Fim de Feira (with percussion and fife classes), artist Raoni Assis (with a workshop on graffiti), and chef Cecília Montenegro (with training in baking). Cultural Events Performances usually restricted to big cities now come to the community of Santa Terezinha, bringing works and professionals from other states and countries. On the other hand, regional traditions are rescued, and local artists are valued. Among the cultural attractions already presented by Usina de Arte are the Auner Quartett, an Austrian string quartet, and Quarteto Encore, a chamber orchestra from Pernambuco. Cinema and theater also had their turn, with the Road Cinema Show, showing short films by Pernambuco filmmakers, and the Caravana Mamulengos from Cerrado Rumo à Caatinga, gathering the groups Mamulengos Sem Fronteiras, Mamulengo Fuzuê, and Mamulengo Presepada. Entrepreneurship Support The Usina de Arte offers direct support to new entrepreneurs, analyzing their business plans and offering technical and real estate consulting, as well as direct financial support for the implementation of the business. Qualification and Entrepreneurial Drive Through an agreement signed between Usina de Arte and Sebrae-PE, the project “Social Business Ecosystem of Mata Sul” was created. Since 2017, courses have been given on various topics related to social impact entrepreneurship, having already offered more than 500 vacancies.
